Engineering new ideas

Originally created in 2012 but rebranded as Troxal in 2017, Troxal is an overarching identity of branding for whatever projects I have interest in. Whether that be to test the limits, create personal projects or learn new langauges and concepts, Troxal was decided to be the nexus of it all.

An interesting example of a project is the Chrome management software, the original owner of the name Troxal. Initially created for a friend, it was a different project than the other ones. I had never created Chrome extensions before but got to learn significantly more Javascript and how extensions work after working on Troxal for 5 years. But it wasn't just about learning new languages. It was also the fact that Chrome extensions, particularly surveillance ones that school districts, for instance, use can collect and process a lot of data that users might not know about. This was an experiment in the amount of data that can be collected and viewed by others. In the aftermath it was determined that these surveillance programs are incredibly invasive and dangerous for the user's right of privacy. In particular it's a concern that these software will be used to single out and open users up to harm with keyword detection and AI, in addition to privacy concerns like camera access, screen access, and keylogging.
